Several Pennsylvanian Senate Republicans have mailed a letter to Tom Corbett, Governor of the state.
The letter states that if the Governor will be allowing the state lottery to add online gambling and keno to the mix, it would hurt the state casinos. They want the management contract, which is pending, to be revised before being finalized.
With the likes of Dominic Pileggi, the Majority Leader, and Joe Scarnati, there are five lawmakers, who have written the letter to the Governor. They believe that the plans made by Camelot Global Services PA LLC, the firm selected for taking over the lottery operations of the state, are going to raise different serious concerns.
The firm is looking forward to add different monitor-based games to the mix. With this move, they have given a provision of an addition of further USD 34-billion in net profits during the 20-year period of their management contract through online lottery tickets and keno.
In their letter, they wrote, “We believe that this move is going to be a broader expansion of the gambling industry than what has been described. At the same time, these casino games are going to offer tough competition to our regulated casinos. We should look into this legislation for clarifying that such casino games are not allowed in the coming future.”
At this moment, as per the Corbett Administration, the existing lottery law gives Camelot the legal authority for offering such games.
